Cadwalader Morris (February 19, 1741—January 25, 1795) was an American merchant and politician from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born in Philadelphia, after attending a rural school, Morris became engaged in commercial pursuits and in the management of his estate, residing for a time in the West Indies. Alexander McMichael was born in Ireland around 1742 and later moved to Pennsylvania; he opened a general store near Philadelphia before 1770 and later lived in Berks County and Northumberland County. He served in the Revolutionary War. McMichael married Martha Johnson in Philadelphia in September 1766; they had at least eight children, including David M., John (ca. 1775-1843), Marmaduke (b. ca. 1770), and Mary (1776-1861).
